Caritas Ghana Celebrates World Communication Day

Today, Sunday, May 17, 2026, the Catholic Church is celebrating the 60th World Day of Social Communications, also called World Communications Day.

This year’s theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV is: “Preserving Human Voices and Faces.”

The celebration focuses on ethical communication, human dignity, truth, and responsible use of media and digital technology, especially in the age of artificial intelligence and social media.

On this World Communication Day, Caritas Ghana extends heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to all corporate institutions in the communication industry, media practitioners, journalists, broadcasters, content creators, and all sponsors and defenders of the Fourth Estate in Ghana. Caritas Ghana salutes you all who continue to uphold the noble responsibility of informing, educating, and shaping society. Your commitment to truth, accountability, ethical reporting, and responsible communication strengthens democracy, promotes justice, and gives voice to the vulnerable and marginalized.

In a world challenged by misinformation, division, and sensationalism, your dedication to credible and people-centered communication remains a beacon of hope for Ghana and humanity. We encourage all actors within the communication space to continue using their platforms to promote peace, human dignity, integrity, social cohesion, and national development. May your words continue to inspire change, defend truth, and build a more compassionate society.

In Catholic Social Teaching, communication is not only about sharing information; it is about promoting truth, justice, peace, solidarity, and respect for every human person.

The Church also encourages young people to use modern media responsibly as instruments of hope, unity, and positive transformation.

Your voice online should reflect compassion, honesty, and responsibility. Let your digital presence become a force for good in your communities and in the world. Be the generation that communicates with wisdom, respect, and humanity.
