STRENGTHENING EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS & RESPONSE: BUILDING CAPACITY FOR CRISIS ACTION
On May 19, 2025, Caritas Ghana, with the invaluable support of CRS-EMPOWER, launched a refresher training on Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning. This initiative brings together Caritas Ghana’s staff, selected Diocesan Development Officers, and key personnel from the National Catholic Secretariat, reaffirming our commitment to safeguarding communities during crises. Also present was Ms. Jemilatu Mashood, the CRS focal person in charge of Localization, Partnership and Capacity Strengthening.
Held at the National Catholic Secretariat in Shiashie, Accra, this five-day intensive program is designed to:
- § Enhance emergency plans & standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- § Strengthen rapid needs assessment & response strategies
- § Develop crisis leadership & swift decision-making skills
- § Establish a post-training support framework with a clear action plan
The training is being facilitated by Mr. Michael Augustin and Ms. Perpetue Nguenko of EMPOWER Training Team. By equipping teams with critical emergency response capabilities, Caritas Ghana ensures swift, coordinated action in times of crisis—saving lives, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening the resilience of communities who are both first responders and those most affected by emergencies.
As Caritas Ghana advances its preparedness efforts, it upholds the fundamental mission of charitable service and proactive crisis intervention.
The vulnerable are the reason for Caritas Ghana’s existence. Together, we build resilience!
